ST JOSEPH'S STAFF VISITS CHALLAKERE

Infant Jesus School was honoured by the visit of 20 members of St. Jospeh's staff. They left Bajpe at 3 pm and arrived here at 3 am. The driver of the vehicle was painfully slow in driving and therefore they arrived very late. Br Hector and Fr George waited anxiously for them. They were very tired when arrived here. They were put up in Father's and the Brothers' houses. In the morning they had breakfast in school and the catholic staff joined us for the mass. At 10.30am, we went to Vani Vilasa Dam and a botanical garden in Hiriyur. We had lunch in Hiriyur and then we proceeded to Chitradurga. We visited Don Bosco school where I teach part time. The principal of ICSE, Fr Arulappa welcomed us and gave a cup of tea and biscuits. They have a beautiful chapel in North Indian temple style!!! Then we went to see the famous Chitradurga Fort. The fort is really beautiful and the teachers enjoyed the visit for historical fort especially coming through onake Obavva's Kindi. Thank God, Onake Obavva was not there. Otherwise, 21 of us would have either been dead or had broken heads!!!. Even though the kindi was small, all managed to fit into it.I was the tour guide. All the staff of Infant Jesus High school and the staff of Bajpe had a studpendous dinner in the Brothers' House. The dinner was prepared by the staff of Infant Jesus High School. They left Challakere at 10.30p.m. I want to thank Mrs Babitha, Mr Basavaraj, Mr Prasanna, Mr Maju
and Br Maurice for helping me out in making this tour a success. We also thank Fr Geogrge, the manager of the school for giving accomodation to our staff.(more photos will be uploaded soon)

DON BOSCO ICSE SCHOOL BIDS FAREWELL TO THE FIRST BATCH OF CLASS X STUDENTS

HELLO,
On 9th of February, 2009, Don Bosco ICSE School bid farewell to the 23 students of first batch of ICSE school. The programme began with a moving prayer service conducted by Br Hector Pinto. Br Hector began the prayer service with a short introductory note to the students and the teachers. Fr Arulappa, Sr Jessy and the student representatives lit the lamp which symbolised the flame of Don Bosco. While they were lighting the lamp, Br Hector played Gayatri Mantra along with the words on the screen. He told them that they are stepping into another stage of their life. Farewell function is a time to give gratitude to God, to their teachers and their friends who had come into their life and made a mark in their hearts. He also said "Feeling gratitude and not experessing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us." They were asked to carry the flame of Don Bosco to wherever they go. He also mentioned that the teachers and the students needed each other. The teachers need the students and the students need the teachers. He asked the teachers and the students to revive the old memories and thank God for all the things that they learnt from each other. Then he presented a powerpoint on "YOU NEEDED ME" which consisted of their photographs and lyrics of the song You needed me.The children and teachers enjoyed watching their photographs which helped them to revive their old memories. Then the students were asked to light the candles from the lamp and sit around the map of India. They were told that to carry the flame of Don Bosco to whereever they go or settle down. They sat around the map of India with the lighted candles. Then the principal and the teachers went around the students and laid their hands on each one of the student's head and prayed for them. While they were praying for each student, the music on IRISH BLESSING was played along with the lyrics through powerpoint. It was a moving and touching programme. Then the students and the teachers prayed for each other.The prayer service ended with a movie clip on "CIRCLE OF LIFE". Well Done, my dear students. Carry the flame of Don Bosco whereever you go. After a few minutes break, there was a stage programme conducted by Class 9 students. Fr Jose, the rector of the school, Fr Santhosh, Headmaster of State Board School, Sindhu's parents and Fr Arulappa were chief guests of the programme. Class 9 students welcomed each class x student by giving a rose while the powerpoint programme was played with the photograph of each student with few comments on them. The chief guests and the student representatives lit the lamp again. Fr Jose wished all the students and asked them to carry the flame of Don Bosco to different parts of the world. He told them that whenever they need any help, Don Bosco school is always there to take care of them. There were few powerpoint programmes and dances by the class 9 students. Preethi and Meghana of class IX gave a dance performance which entertained all . I won't be surprised if they get a call from Bollywood film directors. Class IX boys put up a skit. Nikitha, the Nightingale of Don Bosco sang a farewell song. Priyanka and Shreyas received the 'BEST DRESSED CLASS X STUDENTS' . Congrats Shreyas and Priyanka. Outgoing Class X students presented the painting of Don Bosco to the Princial. Thank you, Class IX students for organising this programme. It was very enjoyable day.

IRISH BLESSING

(Prayer that was used during prayer service.While the teachers laid their hands on each student, this prayer song was played along with beautiful powerpoint presentation)

May the blessing of light be upon you, light on the outside and light on the inside.

With God's sunlight shining on you, may your heart glow with warmth like a turf fire that welcomes friends and strangers alike.

May the light of the Lord shine from your eyes like a candle in the window, welcoming the weary traveller.

May the blessing of God's soft rain be on you, falling gently on your head, refreshing your soul with the sweetness of little flowers newly blooming.

May the strength of the winds of Heaven bless you, carrying the rain to wash your spirit clean, sparkling after, in the sunlight.

May the blessing of God's earth be on you and as you walk the roads, may you always have a kind word for those you meet.

May you understand the strength and power of God in a thunderstorm in winter, the quiet beauty of creation and the calm of a summer sunset.

And may you come to realize that insignificant as you may seem in this great universe, you are an important part of God's plan.

May He watch over you and keep you safe from harm.

Students Like You

With students like you, teaching is easy
I look forward to each day;
Your wondering minds keep me on my toes;
You make teaching more like play.
Students like you make teaching rewarding;
When I go home, I am content;
You pay attention, you learn—giving me a sense of accomplishment.
Thank you for being the way you are,
For making my job so much fun.
I’ll remember how good you made me feel,
Even when my teaching was done.

We , the teachers, want to pray for each one of our students, especially these class x students who are preparing for their final exams. Be with them and watch over them. Show them the right path and lighten their lives. Take care of them O lord.
