The coming of Christian Brothers to St. Josephs P U College, Bajpe marks a land mark in the history of this Institution - that was back in the year 1977. During that period I was studying in class X. Bro Wilfred started teaching English and Br. Harrison was part of the P U College faculty teaching. Those days we had a subject called Moral Science, the class was conducted by Br. Harrison.
Being a student of Kannada Medium I could hardly pick up any word
which the Brothers spoke in English. Eventually both the Brothers started
communicating with the students with
sign language. Today this Institution has reached the peak of its fame
by winning state level foot ball competitions and the rest is history. The
efforts put in by all the Brothers is remarkable : especially Br. Hector’s contribution is
outstanding and I hope his charisma will be carried forward by all those who
will take over this Institution.
Today I sit in my office in
Muscat, where I spent 30 years as a General Director of an Organisation and
write these few lines in honour of the Christian Brothers Congregation. First
of all that I am today is because of the moral values which the Christian
Brothers inculcated in me and the support they gave me in life. I left St.
Joseph’s in 1979 as I aspired to be a Christian Brother ; I went to Shillong. I am proud to tell that everything I learned
from these Brothers there, for a period of one year helped me in my personal
life and in my professional life. I left them back in 1980. But I still cherished
those moments which I spent with the Christian Brothers. Each and every
Christian Brother that I met was kind hearted, ever smiling and ready to
welcome. This is the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice, a Holy Person, whose
charisma and spirit still prevails in St. Joseph’s Bajpe.
After completing my Education in Mangalore as well as in Mumbai I
landed in Muscat in 1987. My oratory skills at my place of work ; my communication skills with our suppliers
from Europe and USA ; and most important,
the honesty and dedication which I put in at my place of work ; are the gift for me from the CBs,
which has allowed me to reach the peak of my life.
Before concluding I say a small prayer:
Lord you said my ways are not yours – You are our guide
We do not know what lies for us in the future – we take it as a
challenge
Every change in life – we can’t avoid it – It comes with a new sun
shine
Last but not the least…
Please allow the spirit of the Christian Brothers to remain in St
Joseph’s Bajpe – For Ever….
